For many years I’ve shared my planning system. The months of July and January tend to be peak seasons of motivation to organize your planner system within the planner community. Over the years as I’ve cultivated my system it has evolved from a group of planners to a Full alignment system.
What is an alignment system you ask? I define having an alignment system as a team of strategic tools that help me keep my desires at the forefront of my body, organize my priorities and stay at the desire counter(If you read my playbook you’ll know exactly what that means).
While the tools I use haven’t changed much, the WAY I use them has taken a complete 180. The day of hosting a list of to do’s is gone.
My system includes:
Catch all Planners- I use a 2025 Happy Planner and it hosts my weekly planning.
The Aligned LIving Playbook- This should come as no shock but I can honestly say the ALP has changed the game for my alignment system. It’s a place to work through my desires and gain clarity before they move into my catch all planner in the form of aligned actions. It also helps me to identify what is NOT ready to move into my planner and what I may need to work through in my inner work journal first. This step really helps me to stay in my body over logic.
Inner work and Desire Journal- I use a Classic Happy Planner size notebook. This contains sheets that I make and HP filler size paper that I can jot anything that I'm working through.
Sermon & Bible study notebook- I use a Stalogy that a beautiful planner bestie gifted me. I reach for this to document sermon notes, prayer requests, praise reports, and helpful verses to reach for.
(Honorable mention)Mini happy planner-I use this for pre-planning. Notating dates and brainstorming in the future.
Tips to evolve your tools into an alignment system this year…
Have a place to capture your desires and work through them to discover their timing and aligned action.
Stay serious about your priorities and be flexible with the way they are achieved.
Have a place to braindump all of the inbetween. Somewhere that doesnt have to be aesthetic.
Bonus: Use erasable pens. They save me!
Friends, be encouraged: You can do this with notebooks and loose leaf paper. You do not have to spend lots of money to have an effective system. I’ve been tweaking my system for years. When I started I planned the way I thought was best, and that was not wrong. Now I can plan on the offense knowing exactly what I need and following what I want at all times. Spend time this season discovering what that means for you.
